Hi All,

When content control is locked for deletion, word throws an error while translating the content.

Refer to the screenshot below, Content control cannot be deleted is enabled.

But when content control cannot be deleted is unchecked. The translation is working as expected. you can check the below screenshot.

Please help me understand if that is an expected behavior/limitation in Microsoft Word.

Microsoft 365 and Office | Word | For home | Windows

Can you try selecting the content manually from content control along with the paragraph marker and see it you are still able to translate?

When the content is selected manually, within the Content Control, the translation and insertion happen without problem.

Are you selecting the content within the Content Control and using Translate? If I did, I had no trouble.

However, if I selected the Content Control, I got your error message.

    Image.

Also, when I told Word to translate the document, it produced a new document without the message. That new translated document still had the Content Controls.

Apparently, you are selecting the Content Control and Word is trying to replace it with the translation.

The obvious workaround, as you have discovered, is to uncheck the option to keep from deleting the content control.

Preventing the content control from being deleted should not prevent you from changing the content. You can, I assume, type new text to replace what's there? If so, why would pasting not work the same?

    Hello Charles,

    Thanks for the quick response.

Is there any other way to make translation work while content control will be deleted is still checked?

Need that as there might be a chance content control might get deleted while copy pasting the content.

    Regards,

    RenuPrasad.
