Singular Global Admin Left Organization without leaving any information

Our Systems Admin (Only Global Admin on the account) is no longer with the company. He walked out of the job and is not picking up phone calls, emails, texts, teams, carrier pigeons etc -

We are looking as to how we can take over the global admin and reassign it to another admin in our organization. I called Microsoft and after spending a few hours trying to get the right phone number to be able to speak to support they told me that and they are 'unable to help, the only thing we can do is go the legal route'. I asked to speak to a supervisor or another department OR EVEN a case number - they refused and said there are no supervisors in the department and they can't open a case number since only the global admin could do so....

We need help! Anyone here that has gone thru this and can point me in the general direction of who to call or email?

    Hello Jose,

    Thank you for the response.

Kindly try calling them again, as the personal support team cannot assist with issues related to Business accounts.

However, you can create a new tenant with a new Global admin account to open the support request. Once the issue is resolved, you can delete the tenant.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Best regards, Oluwatosin.

Try calling the number for your area of the planet. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/support-contact-info?view=o365-worldwide Be aware it'll take days or even weeks before you prove you own the account and regain control of it.

    Hello Oluwatosin,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post - I tried creating a new tenant with my @company.com email address, but it said

"To use Office 365 E1 Trial, you'll need to ask your administrator to get it for you, or create an account to get it yourself. Logout and create new account"

All of our company emails are under this tenant - if I try with another domain (not in microsoft) or a personal email - will it work?

Thanks for the help once again

    Hello Jose,

Thanks for posting the query here in this forum.

My name is Oluwatosin, and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

I am sorry to hear that you were unable to access your Microsoft 365 tenant.

I would suggest that you create a new Microsoft 365 tenant and assign a Global admin role. then open a new support request to the Microsoft team from the new tenant. On the request, kindly indicate the request to be transferred to the data protection team.

The team should be able to assist in recovering the account if you can provide valid justification and prove the tenant's ownership.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
