Mapped fields Developer

Hello,

I am trying to edit the mapped fields. They are currently linked to one entity, I would like exactly the same information for a secondary entity. For example [P1_First Name_0] [P1_Last Name_0] would be [P2_First Name_0] [P2_Last Name_0]. Can I easily change this? I tried find and replace and that did not work because it only changes the inside contents but does not update the field itself. Is there a different way or do you have to do it through properties in the development tab one at a time? I mean is there a way to change the titles without having to open the Properties menu?

Thank you!

    Hello,

I can repeat the data, but I was wondering if there was an easier way to change the tag title without having to rename them from the property menu.

    I can have:

    [P1_Name]

    [P1_Phone]

    [P1_Email]

I want to make a list of 10 people. So, if I want to change that to

    [P2_Name]

    [P2_Phone]

    [P2_Email]

Is there a simple way to do that or do you have to open the Property menu every time to change the title of the tag?

    Thank you!

Renaming the Title or Tag does not do anything to change the mapping.

You need a separate mapped control to hold separate data. That one can then be copied and will replicate in the copy any changes made in the original.

What you get under Insert > Quick Parts > Document Properties are mapped content controls that are loosely linked to certain document properties.

You can create your ow mapped content controls if you do not want to use those under Quick Parts.

You can use other ones under the Document Properties and rename those.

You cannot reuse one that you are currently using for a separate data point.

You would need to do it via the Properties dialog.

Greg Maxey has a whole raft of stuff dealing with the subject on his website, including an Add-in to facilitate many of the tasks.

    Start at https://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/mapped_content_controls.html
