=IMAGE Function not Working Between Colleagues Devices

I'm working with some colleagues of mine on a collaborative Excel spreadsheet. In one column of the spreadsheet, I've taught them how to use the "=IMAGE" function to paste an image into the column cell they've selected. I've only tested this with one colleague so far, and when they've attempted to do the same workflow as me, no image appears in the cell. Here are the specific steps I take to place an image into a cell:

  • Click the insert function "fx" button
  • Search "image"
  • Click "Go" when the option for the "IMAGE" function appears
  • Right click on the picture I'm using from a particular web program, and click "Copy Image Address"
  • Back in Excel, use the keystroke Ctrl + V to paste the URL into the "Source" textbox
  • Enter the number "2" for my own sizing preferences in the "Sizing" textbox
  • Click "Ok"

When my colleague follows these exact same steps as myself (and I've also shared my screen to show them how to do it), all that happens is the URL gets pasted into the cell itself, with no image. This would look like '=IMAGE(URL, Sizing)' just as text in the cell itself, with no image.

I'm unsure how to proceed with this issue. There are only a few things I've verified with my colleague:

  • They are using a Mac/MacBook product
  • I am using a Microsoft Surface Pro
  • They have positively clicked "Enable Images" when opening the shared collaborative Excel Sheet

Any help on this issue is appreciated.

Let your colleagues check the following:

    • Make sure that the cell with the formula is not formatted as Text.
    • Make sure that Show Formulas on the Formulas tab of the ribbon is not highlighted.
    • Make sure that they have version 16.68 or newer of Microsoft 365.
