How to stop Excel from automatically changing font size when you change color of text in a cell?

If you change the color of some text in a cell (say from black to red to draw attention to it) Excel then also INCREASES THE FONT SIZE of the now red text several points, so you have to then go back into the cell and decrease the font size to undo what Excel just did.

I'm sure others have seen this. Ther eare are other posts elsewhere (like in Mr. Excel, ExcelExcel and elsewhere) asking why Excel does this and (more importantly) how to stop it. But I've not seen any answers to those posts, so thought I'd ask the question again here. Maybe someone on this forum knows why the heck Excel's programmers decided doing this was a good idea, or at least how to stop it.

Thx

    Dear LSXXX,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you

I don't seem to have encountered the same situation in the following version of the test.

In order to understand whether this is caused by a version difference, I would like to confirm the screenshot of the version information of Excel that you are using.

Also, I want to make sure that this phenomenon occurs in multiple workbooks.

We look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
