Hi there,

I have had issues with posting comments in Word recently whenever I attempt to post a comment, the program crashes.

This has been consistent across multiple documents (new and old)

Thank,

Robin

    Hello Robin,

Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Word crashing when posting comments. I'd like to help you, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

This could be caused by a number of factors, such as a corrupted installation of Word, conflicts with other software, or issues with your computer's hardware.

To troubleshoot this issue, I recommend trying the following steps:

    1. Make sure that your version of Word is up to date. You can do this by going to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
    2. Try repairing your Office installation. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs and Features > find your Office, right click it and choose Change, then choose Online Repair.
    3. Try starting Word in Safe Mode. This will disable any customizations or add-ins that may be causing the issue.
    • You can do this by holding down the Ctrl key while starting Word.
    • Or follow steps below:

Right-click the Start button (lower-left corner) in Windows, and click Run.

In the Run box, type winword /safe and click OK.

4.Try performing a clean boot on Windows, determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. Reference: How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

If issue still happens, I understand how frustrating this situation can be and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Let me help you further. I would appreciate if you could share following information:

1.Did the issue happen before? If not, may I know when did it start to happen in Word?

2.What is the channel and version of your Word? Please go to File>Account, capture a full screenshot of Product Information from the Account page.

Thanks for your time and cooperation! We hope you have a nice day, stay safe and healthy always.

    Sincerely,

    Tina | Microsoft Community Moderator
