Something went wrong notice when trying to update Office - Error Code 30045-29(1)

I opened various Office 365 programs, Word, Excel, Outlook, and received the notice that updates were available. I tried clicking on the Update Now tab and received the following error message: Something went wrong - Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. Error Code: 30045-29(1). I then tried clicking on File > Account > Microsoft 365 and Office Updates and again received the error code message. I tried to update my other PC and I didn't have any problem updating that PC. Something is different about the first PC. Can you give me an idea what I have to do, to update Office?

See: Uninstall Office from a PC - Office Support

To reinstall, after uninstalling, Download and install or reinstall Office 365 or Office 2021 on a PC or Mac. So long as your subscription shows up as in force, this should be relatively straightforward.

(I updated the title in your post to include the error message in case anyone else runs into the same problem.)

Sorry Fuad, I was unable to uninstall Office.  I went to that websight > clicked on Microsoft 365 > and then typed in Activation but I didn’t see Common Activation Issues.  I then went to Control Panel > Program and Features > Found Microsoft 365-en-us > clicked on uninstall and then received that “Something went wrong” message.  I then went to Apps and features > found Microsoft 365-en-us and again clicked on Uninstall – again I received that “Something went wrong” message.

I thought I followed your instructions, but I could not get Office to uninstall.  I followed your link and found a site to reinstall Microsoft 365 and Office and Downloaded it.  I thought I had a 64-bit copy of Office but the download told me I only had the 32 bit version.  I downloaded the 32 bit and the reinstall went well.  After the install finished, I opened Outlook > went to file > went to Office Account > Update Options and it finally showed I was up to date.  I may have gone around the wrong way, but it looks like I have Office updated.

Again, thank you for your time and patience,

    Hello again,

First, you did a great job, and I am impressed by the detail in your reply.

The first one, Office 365 en-us, is the one with the issue.

So, since the repair did not solve it, we will need to do a reinstallation of the office program.

First, I will assume you have a running subscription of the Office program, you can confirm that by going to account.microsoft.com and clicking on service and subscription to confirm that you have an active subscription.

Now, we can do a reinstallation, you will need to uninstall the Office 365 en-us:

Confirm that your Windows is updated and there is no lacking update, then do the below:

    1. Go to Control Panel, then uninstall Office 365 from there
    2. Restart the system
    3. Reinstall the office by following the link below: https://support.office.com/article/4414eaaf-0478-48be-9c42-23adc4716658

    I await a reply

    Best Regards Fuad

Sorry Fuad, Either I didn't follow your instructions correctly or something on this PC isn't right. I am using Windows 10 Home version 22H2. I right clicked on the start tab, > Apps & features > scrolled down and found two Microsoft Office items for Office 365 -en-us and Office 365 (Office). I left clicked on Microsoft 365 -en-us and it brought up two options, Modify and Uninstall. I clicked on Modify and it changed screens and wanted to know if I wanted to allow this app to make changes to my PC. I clicked on yes and it brought up another screen How would you like to repair your Microsoft 365 and Office programs. I clicked on Online Repair and it did something in the background and then brought up another screen Ready to start an Online Repair? it then brought up another Something went wrong screen error 30045-44 (1). I then switched to option Microsoft 365 (Office) and it brought up two options, the faded out option was Move and the other option was Uninstall (which I didn't click on). I did a restart, but I still can not get Office to update?

Sorry to be a problem child...
