Hi

I hope i am explaining this correctly

Currently word, excel, power point or any of the document applications have a default "save as" location and from what i see its generally onedrive, now this is great when creating a new document from scratch, but is it possible to open an existing document, make changes and then when hitting the "save as" button for the default save location to be the same location as the original document?

In the OneDrive app, check which locations are being synchronized with OneDrive online. You may need to change some settings there.

Also, if you prefer to save locally, consider selecting the option to "Save to Computer by default" at File > Options > Save. You can also specify a "Default local file location." See the screen shot below.

Take a look at the options setting under File > Options > Save.

    Thanks Stefan

I actually found that this users account was not working as intended, not matter what was done it would always save to onedrive, so ill run a application repair and see if this fixes the issue

If you access the classic Save As dialog box by pressing F12 (or Fn+F12 on some keyboards) from an existing document, Word suggests the folder in which that document is saved.
