I have microsoft365 and am trying to use the data add-ons (stocks, currencies geography). I can add items to the A cell but when I use the "insert data" tab in the top right hand side of the cell and select something from the drop down menu it is not appearing in the B cell, or anywhere else. I am signed in and the correct icon is showing to the left of the description in cell A. I am operating on a Mac.

Please refer to Excel Help to determine whether your installation of Excel should work fully with the Stock data type.

Linked data types FAQ and tips - Microsoft Support

    From that page:

How can I access linked data types? What are the requirements? **Note:**Linked data types are only available to Worldwide Multi-Tenant clients (standard Microsoft 365 accounts). In order to access data types that link to external sources of data such as Bing, you must meet the requirements below. To see what data types are currently available, see What linked data types are available in Excel?

For Stocks and Geography data types

    • Have an active Microsoft 365 subscription or a free Microsoft Account.
    • Have the English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese editing language added to Office Language Preferences.
    • Use the up-to-date Excel app or Excel for the web. **Note:**If you don't have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you can only use these data types if you're signed in to Excel for the web with a Microsoft Account.

Well, it was worth a shot. Maybe someone else will come up with something. Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that - used =A1. and then the fields menu popped up to the right of the cell, which was encouaging. If I select something from the menu (say 'price' for example) and hit enter I still get a pop up stating that there is a problem with the formula.

    Hi,

I don't have a working MAC so this is only a suggestion: Suppose you put IBM in cell A1 and then choose Data, Stocks. Excel puts in the full stock name in that cell. If the Insert Data button is not working you can type an entry, for example in B1 enter =A1.[52 week high]. Does this get you anything?

You must have an active internet connection.
