How can I reset the password to my child's account?

My children are unable to log into their accounts, and their accounts are linked with with mine in Family Safety. I am able to input all required information to identify their account in the account verification form, but they have not sent emails from their account. Every time I complete an account verification form, it tells me I haven't provided enough information. How can I provide more if they have never sent an email? It is VERY frustrating that as their mother, I am not able to help them reset their password and now their account and personal information is not within my control. Microsoft needs to fix this issue, I have read dozens of posts from frustrated parents about this.

Agree. Major issue rendering Microsoft Family accounts useless.

Creating tons of orphaned accounts due to inability to assist our children with password resets.

Need administrative password reset from Organizer account.

Hi. I have the same problem. I created an outlook account for my child. I must have mis-typed the password, and your interface did not ask to confirm the password. Since I just created the account I cannot reset her password. When I go to the manage consent page in the family app I get the message.

I also tried the microsoft live password reset screen, and despite me answering all the questions correctly... she has no emails because I just created the account it would not let me reset her password.

In the United States, South Korea, Brazil, and the EU, legislation requires that children have adult consent before creating an online account. You can use this page to manage the child accounts for which you provided consent. Learn more.

Frankly I never wanted to create an email address for my MINOR. There should be a way to manage computer access without creating an email address.

    Thanks you!

    Hi Ravikumar,

When I followed the first four steps in your reply, this is what I saw for each of my children's accounts.

I had already read that forum post you linked. I created their accounts so they could play Minecraft, we do not use Microsoft software, so I am not sure about the second part of your reply "Log in your account on the device then go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage another accounts. Check if you can modify the password. If you still can't change the password, go to https://account.live.com/password/reset."

Whenever I use that link for the password reset, it asks to reset the password for my parent account. When I try to reset the password for my children's account, I enter an email address and a code is sent to the address. When I enter the code, it asks me to submit an account verification form, I enter all the information I can, but then receive an email with this:

I have nothing more to add to the verification form since my children have never sent emails from their accounts.

Its crazy that this is such a big issue. They force you to create this email account in order to have a profile on the Xbox. We never use this email account for anything so there is no data to give them. Then randomly a few months after the account creation they locked my kid out of their Xbox profile because we don't remember the password. All the saved game data and the gamer tag are now lost. Sony doesn't do this. I don't even know why they need me to sign into the email account to access the Xbox profile. This seems to have been an issue for the last few years and Microsoft just doesn't care. They continue to says its to protect the account but this account is added to the Xbox family app with my account as the organizer, we share the same last name, and use the same Xbox, and its a child's account. Its obvious to anyone who looks at the situation that I'm just trying to get my kid back on the Xbox without losing all their saved games but I cant get a person from Microsoft to look at it. They say their employees are unable to help even if they did look at it. WE ALL KNOW THAT IS NOT TRUE. Password recovery has been around since computers, its not new and with a child's account linked to an adults account you would think it would be super simple but Microsoft refuses to help at all. You cant even talk to a person.
