Running Macro "Compile error in hidden module"

I am using a mac excel and trying to run a marco that I have no right to edit (downloaded from a trusted source).

But I keep getting following error message"Compile error in hidden module: 'Module2'. This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application."

Can you please help me fix it?

Sounds as the VBA code needs a Windows platform to run properly... you have to ask the author of the file.

I may simply buy a cheap laptop to run the excel...

You don't know if this will work, it may be that the file is older and requires special ActiveX controls that are not available on newer PCs.
Again: You have to ask the author of the file.

Once I have the file,,, then what do I do with it?

You mean a file where the VBA code is not protected? Share that file, we can look at the code and tell you if there is a chance to make it compatible with a Mac... in most cases there is no way.
