When I try to hit the pictures icon on publisher in the "Home" header to add a picture to something the window comes up saying:
"Bad Request- Request too Long. Http Error 400. the size of the request headers is too long."
If I go to insert at the top of the page and click picture there it will work for uploading pictures from my computer.
I made sure office is updated but not sure how to fix this.
Help please?

This just started happening with me too. I am trying to insert pictures from a local drive onto a template that already is sized and positioned for where the photos should be. Inserting photos manually and then cropping, resizing, and positioning them accurately is time consuming and disrupts workflow. Please offer a solution, I am not trying to add photos from an online source.

Receiving a similar error when trying to change a picture with something else on the machine. When selecting change picture on the existing image and select to replace from their computer, this is when we get the following error. Bad Request - Request too long; HTTP Error 400: The size of the request is too long.

Me as well. But I don't even GET to the place where I can see the folders from which to choose the new picture. I get the error at the time of selecting change a picture.

I have heard this problem from a few different people over the past month. Some were fixed by simply updating publisher or by repairing the 365 app, but not all.

Something worth trying is disconnecting OneDrive from your publisher account/all 365 apps. (assuming you do not use it)

To do so in Publisher: Go to File > Account > Account Privacy: Manage Settings -> Scroll down and turn off/uncheck the "Connected Experiences." Then click OK. Restart publisher and see if it works.

If you still haven't been able to find something that has worked for you, you can try this workaround:

Select the View tab at the top > Check the Graphics Manager box > select a picture under the graphics manager bar that you want to replace (checking the Show thumbnail box may make finding the picture easier) > use the dropdown menu on the selected picture to "replace this picture".

Hopefully this is helpful to some.

I am having the same issue while I try to change out pictures from a document that we use every week as a template. This has never been an issue before, but now it won't let me replace my internal drive photos from week to week. It's exasperating.
