Manage Workbook Link error

I have an excel workbook that is saved in a drive that has limited access. I have linked that workbook to other excel workbooks that is more open for others to access. The people with access to the drive can see the linked data, the others who do not have access to the drive cannot see the linked data and get the 'Manage Workbook Links' button. Is this because they dont have access to the original workbook providing the data via the links?

Hi! I have the same problem, but I think my case might be a bit different. So the people who have access to the more open excel workbook are a part of the same sharepoint community where the original workbook is saved, but not part of the Team where the original one is saved. When they open the workbook, the data is loaded correctly, but they do not get updates. I hope that was understandable. Is there any way to work around it?

Yes, that is correct. The reason why the people who do not have access to the drive cannot see the linked data and get the 'Manage Workbook Links' button is because they do not have access to the original workbook providing the data via the links.

In order for them to see the linked data, they need to have access to the drive where the original workbook is saved. If they do not have access to the drive, they will not be able to see the linked data.
