New PC - new MS Office 2021 - Word and Excel are OK. Message on screen: "The visual basic for application project in the database is corrupt" How to proceed? Will the problem be resolved by remove / reinstall. A new message: "You cannot exit Microsoft Access now. If you are running a visual Basis module that is using OLE or DDE you may need to interrupt the module." At this point I would be happy to remove Access and not reinstall if that fixed the issue.

Does this impact all accdbs on this computer? Or just one?

Typically, it's the last message you see when an accdb is corrupted. That can happen in more than one way, so how this one was corrupted is not known.

Try the most recent backup of that accdb? Is it also corrupted? Earlier backups as well?

Removing Access is not going to fix this problem in this one accdb. That would be like sending your car to the junk yard because it ran out of gas.

If you never ever want to use Access, of course, that's possible as well. But that would be a totally separate consideration.

    Hi RAMcGuirk,

What is exact Office 2021 license type are you using? As you posted in Business, I suppose you are using commercial license. If so, you can uninstall Office 2021, and then reinstall Office without Access.

To uninstall Office 2021, check this Uninstall Office from a PC - Microsoft Support

To reinstall Office 2021 without Access, please refer to Microsoft 365 Apps admin center (office.com) > Create a new configuration in the bottom left side. In this website, you shall be able to choose your commercial license and configure your Office installation specifically.

After you complete creating the configuration file, follow this Overview of the Office Deployment Tool - Deploy Office | Microsoft Learn to install Office. Make sure you replace downloaded version with the default one and then run the command.

    Best Regards,

    Ryan
