Challenges with oneNote

Question

I am having some issues with one note and the way old notebooks are stored… and some seem missing. I need to have them all listed properly including ones that seem to be in the wrong location.See below screenshots… there are misplaced sections and other notes in “open sections” and I need to have all this cleaned up.I don’t see it very easy to move and re-organize these.

Hi Jazlyn,

I see all of my notes in OneNote, but I don’t understand how it's storing them, they are all just being put into my main OneDrive folder, is there an option to change the storing folder so I can sort them as I like?

Hi again,

they are all just being put into my main OneDrive folder, and I don’t like that organization. How can I change the location folder of all my notes? I haven’t been able to figure that out.

Good day! Thank you for posting your query in our community.

Misplaced section always save unsynced pages or sections automatically for you when you open the related notebooks without syncing them well.

If you intentionally delete a section and no longer need to sync or save changes to it, you can delete the misplaced section.

When you open .one files outside a notebook in OneNote, they land in Open Sections. If the contents in Open Sections are useful, you can move them to the corresponding notebook or close them directly. When there are no pages in the Open Sections, it will automatically disappear.
