Microsoft Word uninstalled itself

For some reason on my computer I was creating a new word document, I got up to get some food and when I returned I found the document closed and the actual word application was removed from my computer. Because this document was unsaved I lost work. Why when I am a paying customer would this happen?

Two screenshots attached - one to show that word is missing and another to show that explorer is still associating .docx files with word - which does not exist.

My suspicion is that an update has caused this as some kind of migration strategy to use office 365.

I am extremely angry as I am a PAYING customer and this is how I am treated? Having applications removed from my computer without my consent resulting in work lost??

If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you can redownload the software from your Microsoft account. If you have a recent version of the perpetual-license Office, you will find it in your Microsoft account as well.
