Hi,

I have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription and I work on a Macbook and since I moved to a new macbook, I get this message on the locally installed Word & Excel. But I still pay for my subscription. Why is this happening?

Thanks.

Klaus-M.

    Hello Klaus,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I truly understand that you are trying to activate your Office on new MacBook as you were asked to repurchase subscription for access of Office apps.

We would like to ask for few things:

    1. Can we ask for specific error message you are getting? Please post your screenshot back as it is not visible here.
    2. Have you already set up your Office apps to 5 devices?

You may try to check the steps below to ensure the account you have subscription with activates your Office.

    1. Quit the app. For example, if you're using Word, you'll go to the upper left corner of your screen and click Word > Quit Word.
    2. Restart any Office app and the message should be gone.
    3. If this is a constant issue, reset your credentials:
      • Open Spotlight by selecting the magnifying glass at the top right of your desktop.
      • Search for and open Keychain.
      • Type in Office and then delete the data license file.
      • Run the license removal tool

Let us know how it went.

If you have other clarifications about this matter, you can get back to us by replying to this post.

    Sincerely,

    Kathy A.
