I have tried everything and I can't delete several text boxes within my document. "Cut" does nothing also.

    Hello,

My name is EngineTyme, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I would be glad to help you.

I understand that you are having trouble deleting text boxes in your Word document. Let’s troubleshoot this issue together. Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Click on the Text Box Border: To delete a text box, ensure you click on the border of the text box itself, not inside it. Clicking inside the text box will only delete the text content, not the entire box.
    2. Use the Delete Key: Once you’ve selected the text box by clicking its border, press the Delete key on your keyboard. This should remove the entire text box.
    3. Right-Click and Choose “Cut”: If the Delete key doesn’t work, you can also right-click on the text box and select “Cut” from the context menu. This action will remove the text box from your document.

    Best regards, EngineTyme.

Are you able to select the text box and it still resists deletion? In that case, check if Track Changes is enabled in the affected document.

So I think you're on to it Stefan. The document is in review for editing. If I have the "Original" option selected it will let me delete it. If I have the "All Markup" option selected it will not let me delete it.

In the "Original" view you won't see the changes. To delete the text box permanently, go to the "All Markup" view, select the text box which is now marked for deletion and use the commands on the Review tab > Changes group > Accept drop down to accept the deletion.

Sometimes, selecting the correct area is more difficult with shapes than with text ranges. You may see Accept and Move to Next and none of the other options being active. Try clicking it and then see if you get Accept This Change. See the screen shot below.

If appropriate, you can click the Accept All Changes and Stop Tracking option, to accept all and then turn off the tracking for the document.
