I have OneDrive on two laptops - one at home and one at work. If I update a file at home, when I open the laptop at work, they all start printing out?? This is a hugh problem, how do I prevent it? Is it a Word setting, a OneDrive setting or a printer setting. Please help! Thanks :0)

What prompts the printing of documents? For example, do you see it when you double-click the icon for a Word document in a File Explorer folder?

    Hello Bernie-G,

My name is EngineTyme, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I would be glad to help you.

Here are the steps to troubleshoot and prevent automatic printing of Word documents:

    1. Disable Word's "Fast Startup" Feature:

Go to File > Options > Advanced. Under General, uncheck the box for "Allow Fast Startup." This feature can sometimes trigger printing when opening files.

    1. Check for Print-Related Macros:

Review any macros associated with your documents. Disable or remove macros that automatically print files. If you're unsure, consult with your IT department or a Word expert.

While OneDrive sync settings typically don't directly control printing, ensure "Files On-Demand" is enabled to prevent automatic downloads of all files. This conserves storage space and potentially avoids unwanted printing.
