Dear respected wgood,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I’m sorry you’re having a problem but based on your description we can work together to resolve it.

For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

As per your description, the runtime error may be caused by some add-in used in Office for Mac. As per you error message, it seems to be related to an Adobe Addin, if possible, could you please try to update the Adobe add-in(open Acrobat and choosing Help>Check for Updates) and to see if there is any difference. Also, if the issue persists on an updated Adobe add-in, then, if possible, could you please completely remove the Adobe add-in (for test purpose) and verify the result with us.

Meanwhile, here is a similar thread with the same error, you may refer: Run-time error '53'.

Another suggestion is to remove the Office folders from Containers folder in Library with following steps.

a: Completely quit all Office apps

b: In Finder, press COMMAND +Shift+g.

c: Enter**~/Library** and click Go

d: Go to Containers folder, find the folder called Microsoft Word or com.Microsoft.Word

e: Move this folder to your desktop by cut&paste .

f: Relaunch Word for Mac application and see the results.

We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial suggestions may not resolve the problem very soon. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.

  1. Confirm the version of Mac OS and Office

Find out which macOS your Mac is using

About Office: What version of Office am I using?

2.Can you recall when this behavior starts e.g., after Office update or Mac OS.

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Waqas Muhammad
