Hello,

I have two Office 365 accounts, one enterprise version through work and one personal and I am having issues syncing shared notebooks.

my personal onenote account is active on my android mobile device and my work oneonte is active on my work laptop and my personal Microsoft Surface (Windows 11)

I have shared notebooks from my personal OneNote to my work account and they sync between my work laptop and android mobile device fine.

However they are not syncing on my surface where I'm logged in to all Office apps with my work account. Despit being logged in I get a error notification that says 'We're having trouble syncing. Click "sign in again" to fix the issue. When I enter my work microsoft login I an error message in red that reads:

'This type of account doesn't work with this particular service. Please enter an email address or phone number associated with a different account'

If i then try and login with my personal account details it tells me my password is incorrect which I know it is not.

Can anyone offer any help?

many thanks

    Dear respected Chris Lewis,

    Welcome to this Microsoft Community.

Based on the description shared, it seems you are having the sync issues on the shared Notebook which stored in your personal OneDrive and the problem happens only with Surface Windows OS.

If my understanding is correct, I would like to confirm whether you are working on the shared Notebook with the work account as a primary account or you are getting the error when you set the personal account as a primary and working on the shared Notebook.

Moreover, to my knowledge, when you share the Notebook in the personal OneDrive with the other users, the Notebook can be opened in the OneNote for the web using the shared account and the option Open in the desktop app will not be available.

In addition, is your OneNote app up to date? Open your OneNote app> File> Account> Update Options> Update Now.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,
