Microsoft not sending verification code SMS

I'm currently locked out of my computer, and my account, except for posting this question here.

Microsoft never sends me verification messages. I've tried so many times, trying to authenticate a log in or change, but I'm in an endless loop of it asking for me to put a code in that it will text me but I never receive the text.

I double checked my details entred, and discovered that my phone number was missing a 0 at the beginning for some reason. So I updated the phone number to have the correct number of digits, but it appears to still be sending the verification texts to nowhere. So it won't accept the change.

I've tried cancellation of the change to the number, but it won't allow thst unless I input the security code that it send out, but I don't receive any code.

This is very distressing. I've just recently spent a large amount of my disability pension on buying windows and Microsoft office 365, and now I can't even log into my computer. It's a new computer!

How do I resolve this? I can't find an actual person to help me with this from Microsoft, no contact details or anything. I've asked my local computer store to help, but they are equally stuck.

    Hello Gillian,

Greetings! Thanks for contacting this forum and being a valuable customer to Microsoft products. I'm a Microsoft user like and I'm glad to assist you today.

I understand your concern as you have trouble with using Office 365 as the verification code were missing.

If you no longer have access to the phone number (invalid phone number in your case)or email address, or you need to add another way to sign in, select I don't have any of these when trying to sign in and follow the prompts.

If you have other option like email or authenticator app, you can use those to receive the code.

If you're able to use the alternate method, you can update the email or phone number.

    1. Go to the Security basics page and sign in with your Microsoft account. https://account.microsoft.com/security
    2. Select More security options.
    3. Under Two-step verification, choose Set up two-step verification to turn it on, or choose Turn off two-step verification to turn it off.
    4. Follow the instructions.
