Hello,

Since yesterday all of a sudden I can neither modify nor create a new note.

the app shows 2 pop ups : one that says it’s on read only mode and another one that says it’s location has changed. it propose to click on the pop up in order to replace the app somewhere else in order to modify the notes again. Nothing happens when I click where they say to.

The Ipad and the app are on the last versions. I’ve deconnected and reconnected, no change.

thank you for your help.

Hi Statquest, sorry to hear you're having an issue with editing notes on OneNote on your iPad, and I hope I can help you resolve the problem.

I see that you've ensured your iPad and the OneNote app are up-to-date which is a good starting point as we know the problem isn't caused by an outdated version of either of those, so let's try some other suggestions:

    1. It's possible your iPad may be short on storage which is causing OneNote to have difficulties in editing your notes or allowing you to create new ones, as apps can often be unpredictable when your device is low on storage space.. You can check this by opening the Settings app -> General -> iPad Storage.
    2. It's possible that in either a recent update of OneNote or your iPad that the permissions for OneNote are no longer correct. To check this, open the Settings app, scroll down until you see OneNote and open it to see what your iPad currently allows it to access. However, depending on your iPad's version nothing may seem out of the ordinary here.
    3. While on the OneNote section of the Settings app, there should be a button that says 'Reset OneNote', which when you click it should open up to two options, 'Delete All Notebooks' and 'Delete Login Credentials', you could try to use these to reset the app, but please be aware that if any of your OneNote notebooks are not synced for any reason, they will be lost once you do this. The idea behind this being a potential solution is that it should delete the notes and then retrieve them from the server the next time you open the app.
    4. Considering you're getting an error saying the location of the notebook has changed, it's possible that this may in fact be the issue. You can check this by going onto the OneDrive website and logging in, and looking for the file there. If it's somewhere different to where it says it is on your app, then on the app, try looking in the folder that it says the file is on the OneDrive site, which can be found here: https://onedrive.live.com/login/
    5. It's possible the cache of the app is corrupted. To fix this, you'll have to open the Settings app > General > iPad Storage > OneNote > Offload App, which will keep the data of the app, as well as the documents, but deletes the cache.

I hope one of these solutions manages to help fix the problem but if not, feel free to let me know and we'll have a look further.

    Kind regards, nt1809
