Can a Microsoft List reference data from an Excel sheet to identify duplicates?

We use a Microsoft List for applicant tracking at my company. We currently utilize the "Enforce Unique Values" function to identify duplicate names, but that only works on names already on that current list. I would like to use a formula that can reference Excel data (applicant names) from a separate Excel sheet to identify when a duplicate name has been entered in our Applicant tracker on Microsoft Lists.

I have not been able to find an option in workflows or using the Formula input function in Lists.

Appreciate any info. Thanks.

    Hi Joe,

Have you attempted to create a custom Power Automate automation for a solution? I don't think this can be accomplished with the standard workflows provided by flows in SharePoint.

I'd recommend posting this ask in the Power Automate forums for better help:
