Hey community,

I have an issue with my Word. I have two documents I am working with that after some time freeze and I am not able to click anything anymore. It always happens with the same documents.

Recently it also gave the following error: Runtime Error 6 Overflow (translated from German).

Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this issue?

Do your documents have a .docm extension? That means they are macro enabled with the possibility of a vba procedure running that you are not aware of! You could try renaming your documents with a .docx extension.

Yes, copying just the content to a new Word .docx file might help.

It sounds like you have a VB procedure running in one of your documents that gets itself into a continuous loop. When that happens an overflow error often occurs.

    Hi Greg,

Thank you for your reply. Your assumption sounds plausible.

I do not have a deep understanding of Windows and Office. Can you help me fix it?

I do not know what a VB procedure is/does. Would a simple fix be to make a new Word document and copy-paste it all to the new document?
