Windows showing error message

Whenever I try and open Windows or Excel, there is a message that says it has run into an error preventing it from working correctly and that it needs to close. Then it has options for repair now (which hasn't done anything), help and close.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I need these for work.

Thanks.

Hi Krystina, It is a Microsoft bug that they refuse to fix. It has never worked for years. This forum is full of people with same problem. You just need to do a normal repair. Control Panel>Programs and Features (small icons)>Right click on your Office>Change>Quick repair or if that does not fix it choose Online, which as part of the process will reinstall your Office. Or Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support

Hello, I’m Ajibola and I’m happy to help.

This could be caused by various factors, such as corrupted files, outdated software, or incompatible add-ins. To fix this issue, you can try one or more of the following solutions:

    • Open Excel in safe mode. This will disable any add-ins or settings that might interfere with Excel. To do this, type Excel /safe in the Run box and click OK.

    • Disable add-ins in Excel. Add-ins are programs that enhance the functionality of Excel, but they can also cause problems if they are not compatible or updated. To do this, click File > Options >Add-Ins and disable any add-ins that you don't need.

    • Repair Microsoft Office. This will fix any damaged or missing files that are related to Office. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features and select Microsoft Office. Then click Modify and choose Online Repair or Quick Repair.
