SharePoint errors

Hello,

I am sharing documents to my team member from SharePoint. Dave was able to access it through the codes, but since early this month it came up with the message you can see in this picture. We have since tried a Gmail account in case the icloud isn't compatible now. I appreciate your help with this to avoid these messages from appearing again.

There was another error when trying to access an excel spreadsheet shared, it tried to get Dave to log into a SharePoint account which he doesn't have (see picture).

Best wishes,

Emma

    Hi Emma,

    Thanks for posting back.

I am glad to know it works well now. It seems to be a glitch. For your screenshots, I have already masked all private information (tenant name, domain, and site name) inside them. If you still want to delete them, please let me know.

Regarding your second query, I'm sorry I didn't make it clear. For the information in Step 2 (my first reply), you need to check them in the browser, not in the SharePoint app.

When you try to share a SharePoint folder in the browser, you can click the Gear icon in the Share dialog box to set the link type. Later, you will be able to check the default link type and change the link type.

To check the existing link, you can view the following screenshots.

To add external users as guest users, note that only the administrator of your organization can perform this action. End users can't perform the action.

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hi!

Thank you for getting back to me

    1. It seemed to show up after clicking open in the email. Once we refreshed all pages from the phone and clicked again it seemed to work for us again. I still don't know why the error came up though
    2. So I normally click the 3 dots right of the folder I wish to share and select share. I then insert their email addresses, select can view and send.

    a. Where do I find the anyone and specific people options?

How do I add them as guest user?

I can't see the "existing link"?

    b. I believe he has only been trying on his phone. But I can check!

    Many thanks,

    Emma

    Hi Emma,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

According to your description, before providing suggestions, I would like to collect more information about the situation.

    1. Based on the error message in your first screenshot, I wonder under what circumstances it appears. Please provide some details steps about it.
    2. Based on your second screenshot and third screenshot, I would like to confirm the following points (in the browser, not in the SharePoint app).

    a. I noticed that you shared files with a Gmail account or an iCloud account. These accounts are personal accounts. Normally, if you need to share SharePoint files with a personal account, you can only use the Anyone link, or the Specific people link (but the personal account needs to be added as a guest user of your organization first).

I assume you used the Anyone link. If you are not sure, you can go to SharePoint, find and select one shared file, click the three dots, Manage Access, click the Links tab, and then check the existing link.

    b. You mentioned that this user was able to access the shared files before. Since these screenshots are from a mobile device, I would like to confirm if this user always opens the shared files on the mobile device, or if he always opens them in the browser on Windows or Mac, but only this time opened the shared file on a mobile device.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator
