Sharepoint migration errors

I used the migration tool within SharePoint Admin Center. I connected the agent, added the source and let it scan the folders and files. When it finished, I had several issues pop up but it does not explain the errors in detail.

I have 18 errors which claim "the item is empty"

I have 128 errors which claim "Item has invalid name in SharePoint"

I've checked the folders and there doesn't seem to be an issue. I have over 61,000 other folders which are accepted. The folder names meet the standard requirements for folder naming, as did the 61,000 other folders. I do not see anything wrong with the ones marked as an error.

For example -

I have one folder that is \deepthought\drivee\properties\1 associated photos\ which was accepted

The folder below it is \deepthought\drivee\properties\1 old photos\ which gave an error

I don't see any specifics to the errors. It does not tell me what I need to fix.

Thank you.

    Dear Patrick,

Good day! Thank you for posting your query in our community.

Based on your description, when migrating SharePoint with SPMT, errors will pop up.

However, about the SharePoint Migration tool (SPMT), since this forum only focus on Microsoft Office 365 products and SharePoint Online/OneDrive built-in features, I found threads which has the similar query with you in Microsoft Q & A Community, such as: sharepoint migration error 0x01710009 - Microsoft Q&A.

So my suggestion is to post on dedicated SharePoint - Microsoft Q&A, the members and engineers in this community are more experienced in this area. You will get a more detailed and professional answer to your problem there.

    We appreciate your understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Jazlyn | Microsoft Community Moderator
