The best way to take care of Error 53 from  Adobe is to install updates for Adobe Acrobat. Doing so will clear this error.

If you no longer want to use Acrobat, then there are some hidden files you must delete.

    **Delete "linkCreation.dotm"**from this folder:
     ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word/

    DeleteSaveAsAdobePDF.ppam” from this folder:
     ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/PowerPoint

    Delete “SaveAsAdobePDF.xlam.” from this folder:
     ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Excel/

To get to these hidden files, in Finder press Shift+Command+L to take you to the library folder, then drill into the folders as shown above. Except in Sonoma use Finder’s Go menu and then choose Go to Folder then enter**~/Library**and press return to get to the hidden library folder.

    Dear Chen_wade,

Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) errors in Microsoft Word are typically associated with macros or add-ins that run when you open a Word document.

Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Open Word for Mac, and try to disable macros.

Go to Word > Preferences > Security & Privacy and under Macro Security, select "Disable all macros without notification" to see if that stops the error.

    1. Disable any Word add-ins you have installed to see if one of them is causing the problem.

Go to Tools > Templates and Add-ins and uncheck any add-ins listed there to disable them.

    1. Make sure you have the latest version of Word for Mac.

Go to Help > Check for Updates and install any available updates through Microsoft AutoUpdate.

If issue still happens, I understand how frustrating this situation can be and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Let me help you further. I would appreciate if you could share following information:

1.May I know if this error appear when you open a specific document or different documents?

2.Could you please share a screenshot of the error?

We look forward to hearing from you; Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Thanks for your time and cooperation! We hope you have a nice day! Stay safe and healthy.

    Sincerely,

Hi, Tina. Thanks so much . It works when I get to the second step. The exact error looks like the screenshot and it happens when I open different documents. I found few Mac users have the same problem as me. But I eventually saved it! Thanks!
