Workbook Protection Issue

I have a workbook that I am trying to create a copy of a sheet in. The option to move/copy sheet is faded out in the menu. The workbook doesn't appear to be password protected and the owner of the workbook says there is no password. Not sure how to handle this?

Thank you. It looks like it is protected, not we just need to figure out how to find the password!

    I appreciate your feedback. :)

Hi Lisa. I am an Excel user like you.

The most likely reason is that the Protect Workbook protection has been put on, possibly just accidentally. It is difficult to see if it is on because the Protect Workbook button does not change to Unprotect like the Protect Sheet button does. You have to click on it to find out. When you click on Protect Workbook one of three things will happen.

    1. If it is not protected, it will ask for a password to protect. You can cancel.
    2. If it is protected with a password, it will ask for the password to unprotect.
    3. If it is protected without a password, it will just unprotect the workbook and nothing else will happen, but your option to move or copy the sheet will now be available.
