@ Comments in Excel does not work

I am using Excel Online. If I add a new comment and put @ and add the name of another individual it does not work. By not work it does not assign a task, nor does it complete their name or notify them. The person is also an editor of this sheet/workbook.

I clicked on the 3 dots there is no assign option. See screenshot. There is no assign button. Thanks.

    Dear operationkite,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, it seems that you are having issue with @Comment in Excel web to assign task in browser.

If the understanding above is right, we've also done a quick test and we cannot reproduce a simialr situation on our side, below attached is the screenshot of the test for your reference:

As per Bob and the official article has shared, please check your subscription to check if you are the enterprise user.

If yes, please change to another network and change to another browser to check the outcome. If the issue still persists, we're afraid that issue could be related to account or the tenant background service which need to be checked from the backend. As forum support, we may not have enough permission and resource to directly check the backend environment.

In this situation, we sincerely recommend you contact your Microsoft 365 administrator, follow steps in this article to create a support ticket with Online Support. The support team over there has higher permission than us, they can remotely help check the situation on your side, involve more resource to collect logs and help you do troubleshoot. This would be a more efficient way in handling this case for you.

For reference: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

If the understanding above is not consistent with yours, please feel free to post back and point that.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. We hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Rhoda | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hi Operationkite,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Leo, a user just like you. I'd be happy to help you with your concern.

May I know if you have also tried a different browser or the private/incognito mode? Additionally, can you confirm if the account you are using is a personal or corporate account? If it is a work or school account, I recommend contacting your administrator for further troubleshooting steps on the issue. You can also contact your Office 365 administrator by going to Office 365 Admin Center > Support > New Service Request. If it is a personal account, please let us know so that we can provide further assistance. Thank you!

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope I provided a helpful information regarding your concern! Let me know if you have any further questions. Be safe always!

    Best Regards,

    Leo

Is your Office software provided on an Enterprise License?

From the Microsoft article on @mentions:

However, since tasks are only available at this time for enterprise users in Word and Excel for the web, you can’t reassign tasks in other apps.
