Whenever I want to open a file (any file: word, pp, excel) from my browser (open in desktop app) in Microsoft 365, I get this error: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/vba/Language/Reference/User-Interface-Help/file-not-found-error-53.

I never got this error before and suddenly am getting it after installing Microsoft 365 on my new computer.

Please help me with how to fix this error.

    Hi Lara Greyson,

If you are not a developer for M365 desktop apps, the error typically means that the Windows system is missing several critical component, which apps rely on (DLL file missing).

Is your PC on Win 10 or 11? If so, please try reinstall an full system to check the outcome. Make sure you have backup your files. and save them on external disks or online drive.

Reinstall Windows - Microsoft Support (for Windows 10)
