For my One Drive I have paused syncing for everything as shown below

However as soon as I open One Drive it just starts uploading everything, slowing my network, filling up my One Drive space and slowing my computer down.

How do I turn it off so that it only syncs my One Note books

    Dear respected kevin chen9,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I’m sorry you’re having a problem but based on your description we can work together to resolve it.

For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

As per your description, you may need to stop OneDrive backup up feature, go to OneDrive icon in the system tray>settings>Sync and back up tab>select Manage Back up> select the toggle to turn it off.

For your reference: Back up your folders with OneDrive

Also, to syncs only specific Folder(notebbok), Right-click the OneDrive icon in the system tray>Choose Settings> Account tab>Choose folders>From here, you can uncheck the folders that you do not want to sync to OneDrive. Leave your OneNote notebooks checked if they are stored in a specific folder.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad

    Hi respected kevin chen9,

Thanks for your valuable feedback and sharing updates with us and I really appreciate your effort and your precious time doing.

And I appreciate your kind words.

As per your second screenshot, it seems that is your personal OneDrive. May I know did you paused syncing on your personal OneDrive or business OneDrive. Also, if possible, could you please confirm, did you add personal OneDrive and OneDrive fur business account into OneDrive sync client app.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad

Onedrive is not a backup, its the default location of your data.

No data is stored on the local PC, by default its all uploaded/synced to OneDrive

If a new O365 install it will take a while to sync all data
