Does upgrading cause double billing?

Hi

I upgraded to annual subscription the same day as subscribing to monthly. Will I be charged for both?

I did not know there was a discount for the annual subscription, so I upgraded. This was literally moments after subscribing to $6.99 option. Will I still be charged for the $6.99, or will it automatically refund before reaching my credit card?

I will dispute this with my credit card company and will report this to the CFPB for investigation for suspicious business activities if I am still being charged for the original $6.99

    HI Craig_U!

I am Shakiru, an independent advisor and a user like you, and I am glad to be helping you out today.

First, to avoid misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user support forum. We're users helping other users. We do not work for Microsoft and have no access to any user account so there is nothing we can do or check from within the forum. We have no input on Microsoft's policies, procedures, or design decisions.

Was the expiration date extended for 1 year + 1 month (for the Monthly subscription? from the date of the initial subscription? That is usually how it works, rather than a refund, they add a month to the 1 year annual expiration date.

Please go to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/services and then check if you 1year + 1 month for the subscription to expires

However, to get a refund, you will need to cancel your subscription

Here are the procedures to cancel the subscription to request a refund.

    1. Go to Services & Subscriptions via https://account.microsoft.com/services/?ref=SMC-Cancel and sign in with the Microsoft account you used to purchase your subscription. It's important to use that account.
    2. Find your subscription and select Manage.
    3. On the next page, select Cancel (or it might say Upgrade or Cancel, depending on your subscription type).
    4. Follow the instructions on the page to proceed with cancellation.

Once you have canceled a subscription to get a refund, please note the following:

    1. Refunds are generally processed within 3–5 business days and are applied to the original payment option.
    2. Please turn Off the recurring bill, that is, automatic renewal to avoid being charged automatically in the future

However, if the subscription is not canceled or unable to get a refund, then you need to contact the Microsoft Billing Support Team via chat at

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2214328

Please follow the steps below to avoid being directed to an AI chatbot.

Type or describe the issue in the search bar Click on the "Get Help" button Click the "Contact Support" button at the bottom of the page Select your option under "Product and services" and "Categories" Choose your Support option, preferably select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" Enter your email address and Confirm your email again

Once you do that, a service request will be open and you will need to exercise patience for the Microsoft Support Agent to chat with you live

Please let me know how it goes with Microsoft Support and if you need any other assistance, I will be more than happy to help further.

    Thank you

    Best Regards, Shakiru
