Hello Mark,
I’m an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here at this forum.
The error 0x800ccc78 in Outlook can occur for several reasons:
- Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has blocked the port number and changed it to another one
- Your outgoing server authentication settings are incorrect
- You have exceeded your daily quota and cannot send mail for about 20.5 hours
- "My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Requires Authentication" is unchecked
Please try below steps,
- Close all Office applications including Outlook.
- Sign-out of your Office account and Do a safe reboot. You can start Safe Mode using the F8 key during start up.
- Check the account settings and change the authentication settings in Outlook as per your Internet Service Provide. Restart your Internet modem.
- Close and reopen Outlook in Safe mode. 1. Right-click the Start button, and click Run. 2. Type Outlook.exe /safe, and click OK.
Hope this information would be useful to you. Please feel free to get back if you need any additional info.
