When I place the cursor on a word, the line for making a change shows up two letters back from the cursor. How can I change this so it is accurate?

    HelloTracy A,

I'm Shalom and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and fix this issue:

    • Check Zoom Level: Try adjusting the zoom level to see if it affects the cursor position.
    • Reset Cursor Preferences: To do this, go to the "File" menu, then select "Options." In the Word Options dialog box, go to the "Advanced" tab, and scroll down to the "Editing options" section. Make sure the "Use the insert key to control overtype mode" option is checked. Then click "OK" to save the changes.
    • Update Microsoft Office: Make sure your Microsoft Office suite is up to date.
    • Try Another Document: Open a new document in Word and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't occur in a new document, the problem might be specific to the original document you were working on.
    • Restart Word: Sometimes, simply restarting Microsoft Word can resolve various issues, including problems with cursor positioning.
    • Check System Settings: Try restarting your computer or running Word in safe mode to see if the issue persists.
    • Repair Microsoft Office: If none of the above solutions work, you can try repairing your Microsoft Office installation. This can often fix issues related to software corruption or misconfiguration.

    Best Regards, Shalom
