SEQ with user defined style format doesn't reset at each new chapter

I want a picture numbering that resets at each new chapter. E.g. 1.1 for the pic in the first chapter, 2.3 for the third picture in the second chapter. I'm using {STYLEREF "R. Kapitel" \n }.{SEQ Abbildung \* Arabic \s "R. Kapitel" \* MERGEFORMAT
Styleref works as inteded but now I get 2.3 for the first picture in the second chapter, being the third picture in the sequence.
Does Seq not work with user defined style formats? Because I've tried with the standard heading style format and it works as inteded.
