Guest user cannot sync SharePoint

I am a guest user and was shared with SharePoint. My PC in Mac. I can get access to the document in the browser (Teams and SharePoint). After I clicked "sync" for the first time, I could see the file in the Finder and got access to them.

When I restarted my PC, I found the shared file was still there, but I couldn't open (or download) though Finder. At that time, I could still open them in the browser.

I tried to stop sync and deleted the account and sync again, but I could't find the location of share file in my OneDrive account.

I would like to ask how to get access to these share documents through Finder rather than open them in the browser and download them one by one.

    Dear IrN.S

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you

First of all, I want to make sure if you have two accounts, which seem to be related to permissions, based on the error message you received. So I want to confirm if you are logged in to more than one account? If you are logged in to multiple accounts, check that OneDrive is logged in as a guest account.

If the account you mentioned is the same, you will need to contact the owner of the document library, usually the college's IT department, and ask them to see if your account exists in the document library's permissions.

We look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Tin,

Thank for your reply! I tried as you suggested and it worked.

However, a new challenge has arisen. Four days subsequent to implementing your suggestions, an error message has surfaced: "You don't have permission to sync this library. View this library online to request access, or click or tap to stop syncing this library."

Upon clicking "View Online," the redirection leads me to the SharePoint of my Home Institute, which is not my intended destination. I actually require access to the Guest Institute where I hold a guest account.

Upon further investigation, I realized that I have access to the SharePoint of the Guest Institute via Teams.

Could you kindly provide guidance or assistance on how to navigate this situation and gain the necessary permissions to sync the library from the Guest Institute?

    Thank you in advance!

I didn't encounter a similar situation in my tests here. When I sync, I can always open these files with Find.

First, try resetting OneDrive to see if that helps you: Reset OneDrive - Microsoft Support.

If you still can't open these files locally through Finder after the reset, can you let me know a screenshot of the message you received?

We look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.
