    Hello Tolas E,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. My name is Gunasekar and I'm happy to help.

By default when you no longer have the Mobile device or Authenticator app to confirm, you will have other options to confirm your identity (i.e.) using your alternate email address or Phone number.

    For e.g. see image 1

(or) if you have already backed up your account credentials to cloud, You can recover your account credentials from your cloud account.

Also, please note that depending upon the type of account is affected, (outlook.com account, Hotmail account, or professional/educational account) the recovery process may vary. For educational or Organization accounts, you can reach out to the IT administrator to change the MFA.

If it is a personal account, check if you have any other options to sign in to your account.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N

Unfortunately i didn't backed up account credentials to cloud, the Microsoft Authenticator app doesn't have auto backup to cloud we have to enable manually. Microsoft Authenticator app should have alternate recover solution because when the app get uninstalled, lost mobile or reset mobile , after re installing the Microsoft Authenticator app during sign in the app itself ask Authenticator code to add account , how can it ask code itself ?. My account type is business account I use this account for Microsoft Volume licensing login.

Hi Tolas, I am Sumit, and I will gladly assist you today. Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Yes, I think you must manually enable backup to the cloud due to OS limitations. As this is a user-user support forum you must ask the system admin or Microsoft support. Did you ask them?

    Please keep us posted.

    Dear Sumit,

I have a similar case with Tolas. My phone too got formatted due to some technical problem. I also did not manage to backup my authenticator.

This had lead to my personal yahoo mail being locked. Even thought i have my yahoo email password, alternate email & registered phone number, it all ended up asking me the code from my authenticator (which obviously was the centre of this entire issue).

Therefore, I would humbly request your technical advice to resolve this issue ASAP.

    Thank you.

    Hakimy
