    Although the question you posted in was also about paste options, you are actually asking about a different thing. The other thread was about the keyboard shortcut to paste as plain text. You are asking about having the default be to Merge Formatting as described in a third-party webpage. I've split your question into its own thread so you can get quicker and better answers.

    I am assuming that you are using the Windows desktop application. If I am wrong about this, please say something.

    You can change the default paste option yourself in File > Options > Advanced. These can be set to vary depending on the source of the material being pasted.

    When pasting, if you have the Paste Options button enabled (Step 5 in the screenshot) you can use that to vary from the default.
