How do I close a SINGLE window from a program that's not responding WITHOUT quitting the entire program?

I went to fix an error where I forgot to type a space between two words in MS Word by clicking on the red-underlined text, and it stopped responding. I have other Word documents open and ONLY wanted to close the ones I wasn't working on. If I quit the program, I might lose my progress on the document I was working on!
