VS2015 Update 3 fails to install on VS2015 Isolated shell

Question

We keep encountering an error trying to apply VS2015 Update 3 ( https://aka.ms/vs/14/release/2015_Update3 ) on a VS2015 Isolated Shell installation.

"Setup Package is missing or corrupted". (see screenshot)

The issue also occurs if we use the "/layout" switch to create a copy of the update for offline installation.

We retrieved the installation logs with collect.exe and we notice these messages which seem to point to broken links:

Disabling the antivirus/firewall does not fix the issue.

This means it is no longer possible to apply or obtain VS2015 Update 3 using the web installer.

Is there a workaround?

Please have a try with visual studio 2015 with update 3 ISO image. Download the DVD file in this page. On April 26, 2021, Visual Studio 2015 and older web installer files were removed from the Microsoft Download Center.
