Adding a threshold line to a bar chart in Access

Hi,

I have created some graphs in Access so users can visualise the data they have entered. I have a bar chart which shows scores on a clinical measure over time (appointment date on the X axis and measure score on the Y axis). I want to be able to add a line to the graph which shows the clinical threshold so users can see whether their clients scores are above or below the threshold. The threshold line would always be the same. Does anyone know how this can be added in Microsoft Access?

Thank you!

    Hi abin23,

    To add a threshold line to a bar chart, please refer to these steps:

    1. Open your report or form containing the bar chart in Design View;
    2. Right-click the bar chart -> Chart Object -> Edit;
    3. Add a new column named ‘line’ with the same threshold value 50:

    1. Right-click the line series -> Add Trendline…

    1. Ensure that the Based on series is ‘line’, then click OK:

    1. Right-click the line series ->Format Data Series…

    1. Set border and Area to None, click OK.

    1. Click line in the legend area and press the DEL key

    Finally, the bar chart with line threshold will be:

    Best Regards,

    Sophia

    Create a table to store the threshold values and include the table in the chart’s row source query.

    SELECT [all regular fields], threshold

    FROM [regular source], tblThresholds

    WHERE Measure = "Heart Rate"

    Then just plot the threshold value.

    @Sophia: you're showing the classic ActiveX graph control, which MSFT abandoned a few years ago in favor of Modern Chart.
    I cannot recommend the old control for new development. It is dead, dead, dead.
