OneNote Notebook will not sync post location move

Hi there,

I moved the location of a critical OneNote Notebook way back in January. I never noticed it was not syncing and have not lost any data - thus far. I just received a new laptop and other Notebooks (that were syncing) are all ok, but this one I get an error message "we can't access this section file or the aatached file because it was moved, the file name is invalid, or the file permissions have been changed. (Error code: 0x2 dbf5f).

I do not know what the original location was to move it back. Its "current location" is the same as all my other OneNote Notebooks that are syncing fine.

Seeking advice on a workaround.

Thanks in advance, David

    Dear David,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and I would like to suggest you try the following steps to check the outcome:

Step 1: Open the OneNote 365 application> File> Info> Click on the Settings> Close> Close each Notebook opened in the OneNote 365 app (Make sure every notebook is synced to the cloud)> Quit OneNote app.

Step 2: Open the problematic Notebook in the browser> Click on the Editing at the top right> Click on the Open in the Desktop app.

The above step will force launch the Notebook in the OneNote 365 app and it will remember the new location of the Notebook, so please make some changes and see whether it syncs without any issue.

If the same problem happens, I would like to confirm whether you are having same issue when you try to open the problematic Notebook in another device.

If there is any misunderstanding from our end, we apologize and request you to share the more detailed information with some screenshots which will help us to better understand and guide you further.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
