My Excel ribbon does not have "CHECKBOX" on it and no such tab as "CELL CONTROL". Why I tried to get the checkbox ribbon through customizing the developer option, it's not working. I need help as I require this feature greatly at work

    Hi,Adetola Sam Adekoye

    Thank you for your reply.

    Of course, there is an alternative to your problem, and this method does not involve enabling developer mode, but rather by customizing the ribbon. Here are the detailed steps:

    Open Excel and click on the File tab.

    In the left menu, select Options.

    In the Excel Options dialog box, select Customize Ribbon.

    On the left side of the Customize Ribbon, select All Commands, in the list of commands, locate and select the Checkbox control, and select the tab to which you want to add a new group, such as “Home.

    On the right hand side, click the “New Group” button, this will create a new group.

    Click the “Add” button to add the checkbox control to your new group.

    Click the OK button to save your changes and close the Excel Options dialog box.

    Note, however, that the CheckBox control is a macro control that does not directly affect cell values, but can be manipulated by VBA macros.

    If you need the checkbox control to interact with a cell, for example, to change the cell's value or to change the state of the checkbox based on the cell's value, you will need to write VBA macros to accomplish these functions. If this approach works, I can direct you to a specialized VBA programming platform.

    I wish you good health and all the best

    @Adetola Sam Adekoye,

    Thank you for the update that you OK now and also for marking my reply as the answer.

    Note that you can mark multiple replies as an answer, and I think you should mark the one by Zoro where he explained how to put the checkbox on the ribbon because it formed part of the answer.

    Hello.

    I will need further help based on the VBA macros aspect that you talked about.

    @Adetola Sam Adekoye,

    Depending on what you actually want to do, it might not be necessary to use VBA.

    It is optional but the name of the CheckBox can be removed (Leave blank ).

    You can assign a linked cell to the CheckBox and then refer to the linked cell for the CheckBox selection (True or False).

    The Linked cell can be the one in which the CheckBox is created, or any other cell. If you don't want to see the True or False in the cell, just set the font color for the cell to the same as the cell fill color and then the value is actually in the cell, but it is invisible. It is not practical to use the linked cell for other values because an entered value overwrites the True/False or True/False overwrites any other value.

    To set the properties for the CheckBox:

    If it is an ActiveX CheckBox: Display the Developer ribbon and click the Design Icon and then Right click the CheckBox and select Properties.

    If it is a Forms Control: Right click the control and select Properties and then you can select the various tabs in the dialog for setting the properties.

    If you need more information, then feel free get back to me.

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community, and we'll be happy to help you.

    Excel's checkbox functionality is added through the Insert Controls in the Developer tab.

    To enable the Developer Tools tab, you can follow these steps:

    Choose File > Options > Customize Ribbon, select the Developer Checks box, and choose OK Select the Developer Check box, and then select “OK”.

    Good morning and thank you for your response. Regrettably, this has not solved my problem.

    I have tried the suggested solution before asking for help but the type of checkbox I am looking for is not the one derived through the developer ribbon.

    I want a checkbox without enabling developer mode that can be accessed directly through the insert tab. It is grouped under "Cell Control" in some online videos that I have seen but I do not have that.

    This is something I want to use like a project tracker. The one derived through the developer ribbon is too cumbersome.

    See a link for what I am looking for:

    Grateful for your help
