can rdp with IP not with hostname

Question

I restore a vm from backup in azure to new vm. I notice it has the same hostname. I renamed the new VM to a different one, I joined the server to the domain. but when I RDP, I can only RDP using IP not with hostnames.

Please help :)

Hi Eric,

Look like DNS server is not updated with resource records of your VM however can you please try following commands

a)ipconfig /flushdns b)ipconfig /registerdns.

It will take 15-20 mins or so to register that your VM resource records with DNS.
