Filtering Issue.

When a column is 'Number' formatted using a comma as a separator for the 000's, the filter for that column is requiring a comma be typed in to search for that number. I don't remember this issue before. I want to be able to search without having to type in comma and still have my numbers formatted with the comma.

    Hi,

Perhaps the entries in that column are not "numbers but numbers stored as text". Select the entries there and go to Data > Text to Columns > Finish.

    Does this solve the problem?

If not, then share the download link of the file and show the problem clearly.

    Hi,

This has been the behavior of the Filter at least as far back as 2007. Sorry,

I experimented with the numbers you have in your screenshot and found that Excel behaved the same way for me that you are describing. I entered the numbers manually and formatted them, so I know that they are entered as numbers, not text. I can't speak to whether this is a change because this is something I just haven't used, but this does seem to be the normal behavior at this point.

    Hi Ashish,

Thank you so much for your response.

I tried Data > Text to Columns > Finish and it did not change having to insert a comma when searching the numbers filter box. If I search for 12,345, it will return 12,345.78, if I search for 12345, it returns 'no matches'. I used to be able just to search without typing in the comma even when the numbers were formatted with a comma separator. it is happing in all my spreadsheets and on my colleagues spreadsheets as well.

Our company policy does not allow inserting links. I attached a snip of a sample file below. I hope the explanation is sufficient.
