Deleted Planner Tasks

Anonymous

I deleted tasks in my ToDo list which were populated from a group Planner. I did not think it would affect the Planner. Now the tasks have been deleted from the Planner also. How can I restore them?

  • I have tried looking in my Outlook Deleted Items however they are not there
  • I did not create these Tasks (perhaps that's why they are not there?)
  • The Planner is associated with a MS Group

Have you been able to solve the problem of not recovering deleted tasks in Planner?

    Thanks.

    Dear Adam,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community, thank you for supporting Microsoft products.

I understand that you have accidentally deleted tasks in To Do list, and the tasks have been deleted from the Planner too.

Normally, there is only one way to recover deleted To Do tasks, which is to check Outlook deleted items. Since your To Do tasks are stored on Exchange Online and are also visible in Outlook tasks, you can recover accidentally deleted tasks in Outlook. When logging in to Outlook, make sure you use the same Microsoft account. If you can't recover the task this way, it may be because the task came from Planner and was not created using To Do itself.

Unfortunately, according to Planner's rules, once a task is deleted, it cannot be recovered. When syncing To Do with Planner is turned on, your Planner tasks are also deleted.

This may be due to some design deficiencies in our products that accidentally caused this situation.

We suggest you provide feedback to help us improve our products.

We understand this may not be the recovery solution you were looking for, but we can't do anything about it. We regret the inconvenience and appreciate your feedback, which means a lot to Microsoft.

    Best regards,

Ian - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
