In Excel for Max Version 16.85 (24051214) the 'Data Type' function does not appear. I am especially after the 'Stocks' capability.

Can you please help me troubleshoot what is going on and how I can enable this function.

Many thanks,

DR

    Hi Danielle,

Is this a new install, or a new problem after installing the latest update?

Use the Menu Bar and choose Excel > About Microsoft Excel to display your license type. What is it?

    Hello DR,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It seems you have some issues with Data Types in Excel. The Stocks (and Geography) data types are only available to Microsoft 365 accounts or those with a free Microsoft Account. You must also have the English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese editing language added to Office Language Preferences.

If you have already check the above and find nothing wrong, you can follow these steps to check whether Data Types are hidden:

    • Go to Preferences in Excel application.

    • Click on Ribbon & Toolbar
    • Navigate to All Tabs -- Data -- Data Types, check whether it is added to the list on the right. If not, click on the > button to add.

I hope you find the above information helpful. If you need any further assistance, please let me know and I'll provide more advice.

    Best Regards,
