Sharing onenote

Question

I have shared a note with onenote ipad. But people just only can view my note in the website which can’t find in the onenote app. I would like to ask is there any way to find it on a app?

Thank you for posting back and sharing with me the detailed information.

Per my experience, I'd like to share following information:

• The "Open in App" option will appear when a Microsoft 365 work/school user shares a file with a Microsoft 365 work/school user with Edit permission. And Do Not use the permission "Anyone with the link can edit".
• The "Open in App" option won't appear when a personal user shares a file with a Microsoft 365 work/school user nor when a Microsoft 365 work/school user shares a file with a personal user.

If it's possible and convenient, you may try to use your school account and share your notebook with other person's work/school account. Then the "Open in App" option will appear when they open the shared notebook.

Thank you for your reply.

For the first point about the “open on app” option, there is no this option when people opened the shared notebook.

For the second point, I use the school account (personal account) to share and the account I share with is also a personal account.

1. You mentioned But people just only can view my note in the website which can’t find in the onenote app Does it mean that when people open the shared notebook, they can only open it via OneNote website, there is no option "Open In App" to open the notebook in OneNote application on iPad?
2. Which account do you use when sharing the notebook? Microsoft 365 work account or personal Microsoft account?
